Dr. Mahnaz Motevalli, an Iranian American, is currently stationed in Uganda under the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Project at the Mulago Hospital Complex. Although she has lived in the U.S. for over 47 years, Dr. Motevalli has dedicated more than two decades to international work across Asia and Africa, sharing her time and compassion with communities in countries like China, Sierra Leone, and Uganda. Alongside her husband Brian, she co-founded Children of Persia, an organization driven by a passion for giving, helping, and uplifting those in need.

Dr. Motevalli leads the organization’s medical projects, working tirelessly with the president and board to implement initiatives that embody compassion and the spirit of care. Through her work, she has fostered a community built on empathy and service, uniting people with a shared commitment to make a difference. Her dedication not only brings hope to vulnerable populations but also serves as a powerful example of how compassion can bridge cultures and transform lives. mmotevalli@childrenofpersia.org
